The UNSW Minerals Industry Advisory Council (MIAC) is an important interface between the School and industry.
The role of the Council is to help ensure that the educational and research activities of the School remain relevant and that the knowledge and skills of its graduates are aligned to the needs of industry, hence maintaining a strong and continued demand for graduates from UNSW.
The Council periodically reviews the content and structure of the undergraduate program, availability of postgraduate courses and the scope of research projects. It assists on an ongoing basis with providing teaching resources (including guest lecturers, case-studies and up-to-date databases) sourcing industrial training and scholarships for students and marketing of School activities.
The Council also functions as a conduit between the School and corporate management, government and industry and professional associations.
