Stage (or Year) 1

 

If you have been made an offer to study at UNSW, you can accept, defer or decline your offer online as well as enroll in Year 1 courses. See myUNSW Accept Online for further information on acceptance procedures. For a list of courses in the Mining program the see Program Outline.

Important dates:

  • 21/1/09 @ 9:00pm. UAC Main Round offers released. Students can accept their offer online at Accept Online from 9:00am (AEST)
  • 30/1/09. Last day to accept a main round offer.
  • 2/2/09. UNSW Bridging Courses commence.
  • 4/2/09. Release of late round offers.
  • 23/2/09. O-Week:
    UNSW Orientation activities for new students
  • 26/2/09. Faculty of Engineering welcome
    • 10:30am: Welcome by Head of School of Mining Engineering and meet the staff, Rm 149, 1st Floor, Old Main Bldg
    • 11:45am: Welcome by Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Clancy Auditorium
  • 6/3/09. Last day to enrol for commencing students.
  • 9/3/09. Semester 1 classes commence

Continuing enrolment in
Stages (or Years) 2 to 4

Enrolment for courses will open after release to students of final year course results. Students should use through myUNSW.

Further information can be found at Enrolment News for continuing students progressing to Stages 2 to 4. This section also provides information to students transfering into the mining engineering program.

Information is available on:

  • General Education course requirements for the University and special requirements for the Faculty.
  • on textbooks requirements can be obtainied from the UNSW Bookshop.
  • course timetables.
  • Effective from Semester 2, 2008: to meet their 12 units of credit General Education requirement, students may take up to 12 units of General Education, or courses substituted for General Education, from any faculty or faculties, other than the faculty that is the authority for the program in which the student is enrolled. see General Ed for further details

  • 10/12/08. On-line course enrolment open
  • 2/3/09. Week Zero activities
  • 9/3/09. Semester 1 courses commence

Unresolved course results

Do you still have an unresolved course result (a WD or WC) from a course last semester? If so then then you need to act quickly and contact the Course Convenor - see policy on finalising course results.

Any unresolved grades are automatically changed to Not Completed (NC) at the start of semester.

Academic standing

At the end of each semester, the Academic Standing of each student is determined.

  • Students in Good Standing can continue to enrol as usual.
  • If anything other than in Good Standing (e.g. Referral or Probation) then enrolment will be blocked and the student will need to speak to the School Student Advisor.

Problems with enrolment?

Are you having trouble in enrolling in one or more courses in the Mining Program? Then contact the Enrolment Support Centre for assistance.

If you cannot enrol in a course due to a timetable clash, ovderloading, prerequisite issue etc then you need to submit to Student Central a completed Course Enrolment Variation form. This and other forms can be obtained from my.unsw.
